For over 60 years, dialysis therapy has enabled people to live with the diagnosis of kidney failure. But the world is changing – and so are the demands on renal replacement therapy. The number of dialysis patients is rising globally, while resources such as drinking water and energy are becoming scarcer and more expensive.
We believe that a more sustainable and future-ready dialysis treatment is possible. Our GreenTec Dialysis team, brings decades of experience in water technology and dialysis to help shape our vision of a resilient treatment model.
Our Motivation
GreenTec Dialysis stands for a new way of thinking in renal care. We combine medical progress with economic efficiency and social responsibility. Our goal: to make dialysis future-proof – technologically, economically, and humanely.
Why Change Is Needed
In industrialized countries, populations are aging. In emerging economies, access to dialysis is improving. Topics such as better health prevention, advances in xenografts, and the miniaturization of artificial kidneys aim to reduce dependency on conventional dialysis in the long term.
Yet for the foreseeable future, today’s established forms of dialysis will remain essential. Current therapies are highly resource-intensive. Drinking water is becoming increasingly scarce. Electricity, especially from fossil sources, is getting more expensive, and the environmental impact is significant.

A dialysis treatment in Germany consumes an average of 350 litres of valuable drinking water and over 10 kWh of electricity¹. Dialysis patients typically require three treatments per week. International consumption levels are often significantly higher.
We support dialysis providers in reducing resource consumption and thereby lowering their CO₂ footprint. As a smart dialysis facility, your center is set up to be more sustainable and economically future-proof.
We are facing up to social challenges, especially in developing countries.
In developing countries and regions with insufficient medical infrastructure, kidney patients often have no access to renal replacement therapy. This is a death sentence. In addition to economic and logistical challenges, access to essential resources such as water and electricity in sufficient quantity and quality is required. Our goal is to make dialysis more affordable through efficient and technical processes, enabling more people in these regions to access this life-saving treatment.
We live our conviction even in the small things:
GreenTec Dialysis operates in a co-working environment with minimal space. We share meeting rooms and communal areas with other companies. This saves resources and is also fun.
We reduce business travel by meeting you via video call to introduce our ideas and answer your questions. When we visit you in person, we’re well prepared and happy to travel by train or with our modern electric vehicle fleet.
We work fully digital. We don’t own a printer, and you won’t find any brochures at GreenTec Dialysis. And stationery? What was that again?

Team
Norman Bürkle
“For me, GreenTec Dialysis means using technical expertise to break new ground for the sustainable dialysis of tomorrow.”
Norman Bürkle, has more than 25 years of experience in dialysis and medical technology. After qualifying as a medical technician, he worked in the development and approval of medical products in the field of extracorporeal circuits. He was responsible for the development of several generations of water treatment systems, concentrate systems and media withdrawal systems in dialysis. From 2003, he successfully brought his big-picture perspective to Phoenix Pure Water GmbH as founder and technical head, which he founded together with Falk Sommer. After the successful exit in 2013, he worked as a consultant and led medical technology companies and products safely to approval and certification. For GreenTec Dialysis GmbH, he provides his many years of experience in the medical and dialysis technology sector as well as his extensive knowledge of regulatory affairs.

Falk Sommer

Falk Sommer has been a committed entrepreneur for over 20 years. After studying medical technology and working for several companies, he founded Phoenix Pure Water GmbH in 2003 together with Norman Bürkle. With this company, they set trends in the dialysis media supply market and, looking back, were ahead of their time in some ideas. Falk was editor of the journal “Spektrum der Dialyse & Apherese” for several years. In 2014, he founded and built up the Dialyse.Planungs.Gruppe as a specialist in the construction of functional and aesthetic dialysis centres. He was also involved in the founding of other companies. For GreenTec Dialysis GmbH, he contributes his in-depth knowledge of company development and the strategic positioning of products in national and international markets.

Christian Rohde

Christian Rohde holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Business Administration, Health Care Management, Sales and Project Management. During his 10 years at B.Braun Melsungen AG, he worked in various areas of the company and was able to continuously develop his skills. He has more than 7 years of experience in the field of dialysis water treatment systems.
The expertise he brings to the GreenTec Dialysis company is not only his extensive technical knowledge, but also his absolute determination to find the best solution for each customer.
Dr. (rer. nat.) Petra Haas
“With Greentec Dialysis, I have the opportunity to realise sustainable projects that help to carry out life-sustaining dialysis treatment for patients in a way that conserves resources.”
Petra Haas studied biology at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Massachusetts. She completed her doctorate at the MPI Tübingen and EMBL Heidelberg in 2007. She used her research experience in her next job at Leica Microsystems to help develop innovative and customer-friendly research microscopes.
After more than 10 years of product and application management in the life science sector, she is now responsible for research and development at GreenTec Dialysis. In addition to aspects of digitalisation and user-friendliness, she focuses on sustainability.
Dr. (med.) Hans Peter Barth
“For me as a nephrologist, GreenTec Dialysis means smartly combining patient-centred medicine, ecological thinking and cost awareness in daily routine.”
Hans Peter Barth is a specialist in internal medicine and nephrology. After completing his studies, doctorate and clinical training in Heidelberg, he worked as a senior physician for nephrology at Heidelberg University Hospital’s Department of Urology and Polyclinic with its associated transplant centre. He discovered his fascination for medical technology during his studies. He built up the Mosbach Dialysis Centre, which he managed for 22 years. In 2012, he moved his dialysis center into new premises and, by designing the new premises, created optimal conditions for ergonomic work in dialysis treatment. He set up one of the first fully digitally networked dialysis centres in Germany, which was a flagship project at the time. At GreenTec Dialysis GmbH, he is responsible for the medical/nephrology division as well as the development and practical implementation of the first CO2 footprint calculator for dialysis facilities.

Dr. (med. dent.) Jacqueline Sommer
“It’s no secret that employees are more motivated and satisfied when they are valued and treated as equals. We try to live this culture of cooperation every day at GreenTec.”
Jacqueline Sommer is a dentist. From 1998 to 2017, she was the owner and manager of a large group dental practice. She is a certified coach according to Friedemann Schulz von Thun and supports people in their personal development. As a board member, she heads the nafasi.org foundation, which she founded together with her husband, Falk Sommer, and their two adult children. In the foundation, they support children and young people in Tanzania on their path to a self-determined future.
At GreenTec Dialysis GmbH, she is responsible for the People & Culture division and takes care of personnel development.
Kevin Schnitzerling
“As a medical technician, I am firmly convinced that GreenTec Dialysis contributes to increasing the efficiency of dialysis centres with customer-specific digitalisation options and sophisticated Cross-sector Integration.”
Kevin Schnitzerling is a mechatronics engineer and state-certified electrical engineer specialising in energy and automation technology. During his further training as a technical business economist, he acquired special skills in medical product consulting. As a field service technician for a large medical technology group, he looked after water treatment plants and concentrate mixing systems.
He joined the GreenTec Dialysis team in 2023 as Technical Project Manager and his attention to detail ensures that the project runs perfectly.
Sebastian Schubert
“For me, working at GreenTec Dialysis means an optimal link between my practical work and the new knowledge I am acquiring during my studies in the field of renewable energies.”
Sebastian Schubert successfully completed his training as a plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology after graduating from high school. He gained his practical experience in the dialysis industry while working for the Dialysis.Planning.Group. There he was responsible for the project planning of water technology and was in charge of its realisation as project manager. He is facing up to the increasing need to use renewable energies by studying industrial engineering in the field of energy technology and renewable energies.
At GreenTec Dialysis, he makes his knowledge from his training in the field of sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology, his experience in the field of dialysis water technology, as well as his newly acquired knowledge available and applies it in a customer-orientated manner.
Marcel Schanze

Although I am new to this industry, I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge, making a positive contribution to patient care and shaping the future of green dialysis together with my team.”
As a technical project manager, Marcel Schanze has extensive experience from his previous job as an information electronics technician for device and system technology.
After many years of expertise in customer contact and the independent management and implementation of complex projects, he is motivated to develop efficient and customer-oriented solutions.
Dominik Reinecke
“For me, working at GreenTec Dialysis means combining my profession with innovative and sustainable technologies and making a major contribution to improving sustainability in dialysis centres.”
Dominik Reinecke is a trained plant mechanic for sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology. With his many years of experience as a customer service fitter in the sanitary trade, he has the necessary skills for the practical networking of medical and domestic technology.
In his current in-service training as a master plumber and heating engineer, he is acquiring the necessary knowledge in the application and implementation of modern, sustainable technologies such as heat pumps in the GreenTec Dialysis projects.
Julius Blumenröder
“As a data analyst at GreenTec Dialysis, I have the opportunity to bring about major changes in the energy supply process of dialysis centres by making precise adjustments. That’s what drives me.”
Julius Blumenröder completed his master’s degree in computer science with a focus on artificial intelligence in October 2024. During his studies, he worked as a student trainee at GreenTec Dialysis for 1.5 years, during which time he helped develop the CO₂ calculator, a helpful tool for determining the environmental footprint of dialysis centres.
He joined the team in November 2024 and is responsible for projects such as the automated real-time monitoring of centre data, the optimisation of system and device configurations using AI and the implementation of predictive maintenance approaches to further improve processes.
Martina Ackner
“At GreenTec Dialysis, I can contribute to a meaningful mission: to make life-prolonging dialysis more resource-efficient and therefore more sustainable. That motivates me every day!”
Martina Ackner is an experienced brand expert. She has a wealth of experience in strategic brand management, communication and the management of complex projects from her many years at the international science and technology company Merck.
With her analytical strength, curiosity and intrinsic motivation, she supports us as Sustainability Manager in taking a holistic approach to sustainability.
Tina Gremm
“With my work in purchasing at GreenTec Dialysis, I ensure that there is a supply of the sustainable solutions that we install. In this way, I can play my part in making dialysis more sustainable.”
After completing her training as an industrial clerk, Tina Gremm graduated as a certified business administrator (Bachelor Professional of Business (CCI)). She has many years of experience as a buyer in two different industries. Most recently, she was responsible for cross-location raw materials purchasing in Switzerland at Mäder Germany GmbH.
She is responsible for purchasing and order processing at our company. She ensures that purchasing processes in procurement are well structured and function efficiently.
