Heidenheim Hospital
"Our vision: a hospital dialysis unit that combines cutting-edge technology, cost-efficiency and environmental awareness." This is how Susanne Gaiser, Deputy Director of Nursing and Head of Nursing at Heidenheim Hospital, described the idea for the new dialysis building.
Implementation: 2023/2024
Solutions in use: HE.RO with connection to district heating, GreenTec Performance System (GPS) Smart Water, Smart Energy
Description of the project
Those responsible were looking for a concept that was as sustainable as possible and at the same time optimised the operating costs.
Our services as GreenTec Dialysis GmbH:
As the general contractor, we first carried out a needs analysis in various areas (nursing, medical, technical) and a product-neutral market analysis.
s a result, we installed a two-stage reverse osmosis system from B.Braun, combined with hygienic hot water disinfection and an orbital-welded V4A stainless steel permeate ring pipeline. Complementing this, we implemented our Smart Dialysis concept, featuring Cross-Sector Integration with our HE.RO system, a connection to district heating, and our GPS software for control and monitoring.
We call the combination of our Cross-Sector Integration and our GPS “Smart Dialysis®”. This smart approach enables our customers to save costs while using less energy and water. As an industry, it brings us closer to the goal of green dialysis.
This is how we as an industry are getting closer to the goal of green dialysis.
Benefits
- Savings in electricity consumption for dialysis of approx. 10,000 kWh/year (forecast)
- Reduction of CO₂ emissions at approx. 4.5 tonnes/year (forecast)
- Relief for employees through digitalisation of logging activities (e.g. daily log)
- Savings on service costs through digitalisation of the water treatment system (remote monitoring)
About our customer
Well over 10,000 blood washes are carried out at Heidenheim Hospital every year. The interdisciplinary team treats both acutely ill patients in the intensive care unit and patients with chronic kidney disease.
