Future-Ready Solutions for Dialysis

Dialysis centers are facing increasing economic pressure. Rising energy costs, high water consumption, and regulatory requirements make efficient management a growing challenge. Future-ready solutions for dialysis are more important than ever for all operators.
With Smart Dialysis®, we offer a holistic concept that intelligently combines economic and ecological aspects. It is based on two core components:
  • The GreenTec Cross-Sector Integration, where we integrate medical technology with renewable energy systems.
  • Our digital services with the GreenTec Performance System (GPS) monitors key processes and provides the foundation for saving valuable resources and reducing costs.
Smart Dialysis® makes dialysis centers more resilient, economical, and future-ready.

GreenTec Cross-sector Integration

By integrating medical technology, renewable energy generation and modern building technology we can achieve significant savings in electricity, water and CO₂ emissions in dialysis centres. The savings potential is significantly higher than with standalone solutions.

PRODUCTS

HE.RO

HE.RO stands for HEat up Reverse Osmosis. The system uses the green thermal energy generated by heat pumps and PV systems to preheat drinking water before reverse osmosis. This provides the dialysis machine with pre-heated dialysis water, significantly reducing the electricity required for heating. The operation of the reverse osmosis system becomes more efficient in terms of water and energy consumption due to the increased and stable water inlet temperature.

Heat pump

A heat pump converts electrical energy into heat in a climate-friendly way using natural sources such as the ground, air, or water. Using the laws of thermodynamics, each kilowatt of electrical energy is transformed into approximately 3-4 kilowatts of heat (or more).
Heat pumps have long proven effective for heating and cooling buildings. We use this sustainable and efficient technology directly in the dialysis process to preheat the dialysis fluid.

Photovoltaics (PV)

A PV system reduces your dialysis centre's electricity bill, as the self-generated solar energy reduces the need for expensive grid power. Our goal is to maximize the use of self-produced energy directly within the dialysis centre, as feeding electricity into the grid is usually not very lucrative.
We achieve this by storing the unused PV surplus energy cost-effectively as heat in special buffer tanks. This thermal energy is then used to heat the dialysis water.

Dialysis technology

Our interdisciplinary GreenTec Dialysis team is your reliable partner with many years of experience in the following areas: installation of dialysis water treatment systems, permeate and concentrate supply, and customised media supply systems.
We work with renowned suppliers and are able to plan, deliver, and install the best possible system technology and combinations, independently of specific manufacturers.

Digital services

With our software GPS (GreenTec Performance System), you — the person responsible for the medical, nursing, technical or management aspects of a dialysis centre — are always well informed. Our digital services connect and monitor the installed GreenTec Cross-sector Integration systems 365 days a year. This data forms the foundation for optimizing the resource consumption of the systems.

GPS Smart Energy

Our Smart Energy module visualises the modules of our GreenTec Dialysis Cross-Sector Integration in real time. It shows how the photovoltaic system, heat pumps, heat storage units, and HE.RO work together to efficiently integrate the preheating of the dialysis water into the dialysis process.
Smart Energy documents performance, including self-sufficiency levels and self-consumption, with the goal of centrally recording and optimising all relevant electricity and water consumption. This ensures more sustainable and efficient operations while reducing operating costs. If your facility is subject to legal documentation requirements for energy management under ISO 50001 or must conduct regular energy audits, Smart Energy handles the necessary data collection.

GPS Smart Water

With our Smart Water software module, you have all relevant parameters of dialysis water treatment digitally in view at all times. Energy and water consumption, as well as the pre-filtration components are monitored. The system displays alarms and sends them via e-mail for a quick response.
Smart Water offers a clear overview of trends and average values that provide valuable insights into system performance. This facilitates in-depth analyses, troubleshooting and system optimisation. A digital daily log in accordance with ISO 23500 eliminates the need for manual documentation of water treatment systems, saving time. Our goal is to ensure smooth operation so you can focus fully on your core tasks.

Smart Building

Under Smart Building, we develop and integrate additional services related to your facility.
The Smart Heating module, for example, ensures an ideal balance between comfort and energy efficiency in the dialysis centre. It provides patiens with a pleasant room temperature while avoiding energy waste. When windows are opened, the system automatically lowers the heating. A night setback prevents unnecessary heating during the night.
Smart Heating makes it easy to set the target temperature. This smart heating control system optimises energy consumption while maintaining a comfortable indoor climate — for satisfied patients and efficient operation.

Analysis of Potential

How much can you save in operating costs by reducing energy and water consumption? Is there potential to optimise the installed systems? Which renewable energy technologies can be installed in your centre? How will this affect the CO₂ footprint of your dialysis facility? Our potential analysis provides you with a sound basis for making informed decisions about next steps.

Subsidy Consultation

Would you like to make your dialysis centre more sustainable and future-proof, and take advantage of available government funding? Our HE.RO concept, in combination with a heat pump, is BAFA-listed and between 45 and 65 % of the costs are eligible for funding. This is one example. We are happy to advise you on further individual subsidy options.

CO₂ Footprint

Do you want to determine the CO₂ emissions of your dialysis centre, but don't know how?
We calculate the individual CO₂ footprint of your facility. This knowledge helps you to derive targeted and measurable actions for reduction.

Energy Audit

Do you need to conduct an energy audit for your energy management according to ISO 50001? We support you in implementing the legally required steps. We also evaluate the efficiency of energy use in your centre to identify potential for improvement and cost savings.

Operational Optimisation

You are not sure whether your water treatment system is optimally configured? We monitor the relevant parameters around your reverse osmosis system to identify potential for optimisation. We support you in implementing improvements in collaboration with the manufacturer of your system.
