Braunschweig Municipal Hospital
As part of the construction of the new clinic dialysis unit, we were awarded the contract to design and implement our Smart Dialysis solution.

Implementation: 2023/2024
Solutions in use: HE.RO: here with connection to district heating, GreenTec Performance System (GPS) Smart Water, Smart Energy
Description of the project
The decision-makers launched a public tender as part of the new clinic dialysis construction, seeking a partner for the water technology concept.
We proposed a concept that is as sustainable as possible while optimizing operating costs. Together with B. Braun, we were awarded the contract.
Our services as GreenTec Dialysis GmbH:
We implemented our Smart Dialysis concept which includes Cross-Sector Integration, here with our HE.RO system and connection to the existing heating infrastructure, as well as our GPS (GreenTec Performance System) for control and monitoring. Additionally, we installed a single-stage reverse osmosis combined with a hygienic hot cleaning system, a permeate ring line and a concentrate mixing system, all integrated into our Smart Dialysis® concept.
Our self-developed product “CPG” (Chlorine Protection Guard) measures the chlorine levels in drinking water according to DIN EN IS0 23500. It removes chlorine using an activated carbon filter and triggers an alarm if the chlorine level becomes too high. Chlorine damages the membrane on reverse osmosis systems and, in some cases, reach patients. This poses a risk that must be avoided.
Clinic dialysis presents unique challenges. To address these, we combined various interfaces, such as medical technology and medical gases, into a custom-designed media rail.
We call the combination of Cross-Sector Integration and our GPS “Smart Dialysis®”. This smart approach enables our customers to save costs while using less energy and water. It brings us closer to the goal of green dialysis.
“GreenTec Dialysis impressed us with its technical expertise, dialysis know-how, and business acumen. The smart combination of technology and digitalization enables more transparent processes and a more responsible use of resources – which is essential in the resource-intensive field of dialysis to offer top-level treatments while reducing electricity and water consumption.”
Prof. Dr. Jan T. Kielstein
Chief Physician, Department of Nephrology, Rheumatology and Blood Purification

Benefits
- Reduction of electricity consumption and CO₂ emissions due to preheating of drinking water using the HE.RO system with district heating
- Relief for employees through digitalisation of logging activities (e.g. daily log)
- Savings on service costs through digitalisation of the water treatment system (remote monitoring)
About our customer
Around 16,000 haemodialysis treatments are carried out each year at the certified nephrology clinic.
